Ecomondo 2025: The Future of the EU Batteries Regulation and Italy’s Readiness

On 4 November 2025, at the Erion stand during Ecomondo, the event “EU Batteries Regulation: Is Italy Ready for the Electric Future?” addressed the significant developments introduced by Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 and the recent Delegated Regulation (EU) 2025/606. Avv. Andrea Farì explained how the new framework lays the foundations for a more sustainable and traceable battery supply chain, aligned with the European vision of a fully circular system.

The presentation highlighted key elements of the new rules, including sustainable product design, extended producer responsibility obligations, minimum recycled content requirements and the introduction of the digital battery passport.

A central focus of the discussion concerned Italy’s ability to adapt to the new EU standards and to develop a national circular battery industry. The intervention addressed the investments needed, the role of emerging technologies and the opportunities arising from an integrated approach combining innovation, environmental protection and industrial policy.
