On 6 November 2025, during the Sole 24 Ore Talks at Ecomondo, the panel “Urban regeneration and environmental remediation: limits and development perspectives” brought together professionals from different backgrounds — law, engineering, planning and public administration — reflecting the inherently interdisciplinary nature of the topic.
The session, coordinated by Avv. David Roettgen, examined the main challenges relating to the redevelopment of disused sites, the management of environmental liabilities and the opportunities created by recent legislative reforms on simplification, regeneration projects and public-private partnerships.
Avv. Andrea Farì contributed with an analysis of the regulatory framework applicable to remediation and re-industrialisation activities, highlighting critical interpretative issues, the responsibilities borne by operators and the connections with urban-planning instruments.
The debate stressed the need for streamlined procedures, greater legal certainty and effective cooperation between public authorities and private stakeholders. According to the participants, these factors are essential to attract investment and promote sustainable territorial development. The panel provided a broad and updated overview of the dynamics shaping urban regeneration processes in Italy.
